Dead Name Art
For the last decade, I've been making art under a different name, a name that doesn't fit. Although the art was my own, so much of it danced around important themes, instead of diving right in. So much of the last ten years was spent pursuing a 'proper' artist carreer: pandering residencies and galleries that never called back, always being professional, and doing that social media grind. That's a past life, now.
I'm Gertie. The world is fucked up, and making art in the service of combatting exploitation and oppression is my intrest. I'm not here to 'start a discussion'. I'm here to stir that revolutionary spirit that screams enough, and runs towards liberation. My art is here to comfort and care, and combat the issolation under capitalism. Let us find each other, under my art or ours, cause solidarity is everything.
This page has a small number of the hundreds of pieces I've made, so far. You'll see new pieces added from time to time too. I have a studio in the Denver Art District on Santa Fe, and you can email me for purchases, or to see the art in person. So welcome, look around and say hi.
